The route
After a last goodbye to Città della Pieve, we set off and for the first three kilometers we retrace our steps. The exit from the city is the same as entry, and this for one reason only: to allow those who walk to do so safely, without touching busy roads and continuing their journey in nature. But the view that you see when you enter Città della Pieve is different from what you see coming out. In life it is always a matter of perspectives!
After the “Tre Mulini” farm, the path continues to the left and plunges into a wood that gently leads to the small hamlet of San Donato. How beautiful are these small clusters of houses.
After San Donato, at the Poderaccio Basso, you can find a bar-restaurant where you can stop and eat a good lunch (“Pilgrim’s Menu”).
Crossing the road, the path continues along dirt roads and leads to Cantagallina, from where you can already see the destination of the stage which is about a half hour walk.
Villastrada is a small town, but there is everything you need: a pharmacy, a supermarket, a bar, a pizzeria and accommodations. We wanted the stage to end here, because Villastrada is an example of how even the smallest villages can resume vitality thanks to the Via del Trasimeno.
